-Where to start? With my favourite authors, of course - JRR Tolkien, Tanith Lee and William Shakespeare.

Then, in no particular order, there's Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters (Charlotte, Emily and Anne), Thomas Hardy, Charles Dickens, Terry Pratchett, all the Romantic Poets (Keats, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley), Alfred Lord Tennyson, Simon Winchester, Samuel Pepys, Geoffrey Chaucer, George Eliot, Sir Walter Scott, Anthony Trollope, Robert & Elizabeth Browning, Christina Rossetti, Robert Louis Stevenson, PG Wodehouse, William Morris...

the list will be extended as I think of others I love.
