comments = Dearest Ms. Dart-Thornton,

Please do not think me overly bothersome to beg your attention oncemore, but as you must be aware, I love your books as dearly as I lone live, and cannot resist but ask you this favor. You remember that I once asked about the ending of the bitterbynde, saying that the tale could not be complete in my heart if you did not tell me whether Angavar made Ashalind immortal. Please, do not stop reading now, for I must convey this message, no matter what! When I saw that there was an extra chapter that one could buy, I begged my parents to let me purchase it. Now, weeks later, they finally agreed to open an account especial for this purchase, for they are both very much afraid of being done in somehow over this internet-banking and buying thing. So, an account was opened for the purchase of the extra chapter, but when I connected to the web tonight I saw that you had removed it.
Now, I must impress upon you the fact that I love no story as much as I love that of the Bitterbynde. And, as such, I beg of you, Ms. Dart-Thornton, grant me a boon as Edward granted Angavar one. Send me that last chapter, and I shall be at peace for a while. I swear to you, on my life, that I will delete it immediately, and allow no one else to read it. I shall not distribute it in any way, verbally or otherwise, and will guard it with my life! Please, allow me to say my farewells  to Ashalind and Angavar, for they have a hold over me that I fear cannot be broken!
Please, release me from that hold, and allow me to glimpse the final moments of the Bitterbynde. I would not ask this if it was not important.
Thank you, and please be well.
May God ever light your path, and may your dreams play out through your fingers onto words.

All my love and best wishes, and a very hopeful and begging expression on my face,

Kara-Anja, South-Africa

Dear Kara-Anja,

I certainly was not intimidated by your long letter - quite the reverse, I enjoyed it very much and read it twice!
You do write beautifully. I am certain you will be a great author, you have a real flair for words, and true depth of emotion. Thank you for your words of praise for me, they were very much appreciated, I can assure you.
It is truly amazing that you dreamed of the title of the first book in the Crowthistle series!
There are so many unexplained and intriguing phenomena in this world; this sounds like one of them. The power of the mind is extraordinary.
You asked, "In the Well of Tears, Jewel's daughter is called Astariel. But on your website, you say that she is called Asrathiel in Weatherwitch. Is this not the same person?"
She is the same person but her name is slightly altered.
One reason is given in WEATHERWITCH; another reason is that it was brought to my attention that "Asrathiel" has already been used for some sort of video game, and it also resembles a name Garth Nix uses in his books. I wanted Jewel's daughter to have a unique name, so I changed it.
You asked, "Do you believe in Faerie and the wights?"
My answer: They have a reality of their own. Their reality may not be exactly the same as that which exists in the so-called Real World, but it is valid.
And I do know that all throughout the British Isles and  Scandinavia - and probably all over the world - ancient stories linger, and refuse to go away; and there will always be people who swear they have seen certain creatures in certain places associated with enchantment. For example, recently I was watching a TV show called "The Hairy Bikers' Cookbook", one episode of which was filmed on the Isle of Man, and whenever the hairy bikers rode across a certain bridge they saluted the local fairies who were said to be the guardians of the bridge... this information was imparted to them by the locals, who themselves acknowledged the fairy guardians every time they travelled along that stretch of road.
So it seems that wights are alive and well and continuing their secretive pursuits... good for them!
You wrote: "I ofttimes dream of them, and I wonder. Perhaps when I am studying in Erinn, (for I think no place as magnificent as Ireland) I might glimpse them, and I shall tell you of it." Please do! I am sure that Ireland is still teeming with them.

I really did love your postscript in your last email. It's beautiful.
Thank  you for being so lovely, Write any time, I can't always promise to reply straight away but I will do what I can.

Sain thee,
Ceilia Dart-Thornton.

HI, I tried to access the new chapter for the Battle of Evernight having just re-read the entire series, but for some reason the link no longer works. Can you confirm if it is still available to read? I would love to see it still!

I am much sated by the additional chapter. It was wonderful to read how things truly turned out. Your Bitterbynde trilogy remains one of my all time favourite fantasy stories, once again I am indebted to a fantastic author who made a real difference to my life. Thanks again,

Kind Regards

Eric

I bought the book Battle of the Evernight a while ago and was recently told that there was an optional extra chapter.

Could this chapter either be emailed to me or be published as part of Weather Witch?

Thanks.

greetings,
thank you for replying, still cant believe your replying, you are one of my favorite authors, next to keats and john milton some more of the classics.
yes, i might start that topic about the weathermasters, but was that idea based on anything, any lore?
also which picture of morragan and angaver is the one closest to your imagining of them, as iv seen a few, all have a similarity, but just wondering what you think is closest to them.
oh, is there any pictures/paintings on the ganconer?

kind regards

comments = i really enjoyed The Bitterbynde Trilogy.  There was so much meaning in the series, and although i was disappointed that there was no cliched happy ending, it did emphasise the messages that were, possibly unitentionally, being portrayed. I would just like to know if there was a particular reason for that ending (or no reason at all).
thanks for your time.

I also enjoyed your website, although there were a few dead links.

I also noted your support of animal causes on the website and thought you might be interested in my own petition to stop whaling at www.whalesrevenge.com - I have an interview being published in the Bayside Leader this week.

Thank you so much again for your wonderful story. I really enjoyed it.

Warm regards, Patrick Bonello

g'day Cecilia, Edward here.

I'm just an average boy in year 8 in AUS/NSW who has an ambition to become a great author like yourself one day. I have read the Bitterbynde series and i've to say that they are really amazing. I mean the way the book is structured with the characters and their names all fit. Like Angavar. He's definitely one cool hero.
So, have you got any tips on writing books???
Oh and one more question, how do you actually get a book published? What steps do you take??

Thanks, Edward

I would like to thank you for this wonderful new style of writing i have encountered. You are one of the most talented writers i have ever read. Your excellent plot-line for the Byterrbynde(I hope I have spelled that right) surprised me every turn. My only wish to change Fantasy book would be to have every one write like you. Again I would like to thank you for this wounderful series.
Many Thanks,
Your Reader

comments = I just wanted to give my personal praises on the first trilogy, "The Bitterbynde". You created characters with such depth that one cannot help but fall in love with them! My only sorrow was the ending...I was not expecting a tragedy. However, it was expertly executed! Is your next series going to be a tragedy as well? I'm awaiting "The Featherwitch" before I delve into the Crowthistle trilogy, but to be honest, I'm really hoping for a happy ending this time!

        With Respect and Admiration,

Kirsten

i heard you say in an interview that you'd choose him, so i looked him up and i didn't really like him, sort of lost the appeal for me. what about viggo morternsen?????(spelt rite)?

i love that you said that about picking johnny deep as the ganconer, as i can look like him, and iv always been abale to influence a ladys decision, always thought it was wrong.

im realy into lord of the rings the movies because of you, thank you!!!

comments = Dear Mrs Cecilia Dart- Thornton,

I´m twenty years old and a hugh fan of your great Bitterbynde-Trilogy! I´m really looking forward to reading the third and last part, but unfortunately nobody here in Germany is able to tell me, when exactly the book will hit the shelves... I don´t know, if you`re informed about the publishing in Germany, but if that´s the case, it would be awesome if you told me! I think you`re doing a great job and I honestly hope that there will come the day your story will hit the cinemas too!
Best wishes from Germany, Carolin

comments = I've been wanting to write to you for a very long time, but now, I think I have a greater reason than just to squee over our novels and say what a fantastic time I've had in Erith and Tir.

I recently moved form Australia to New Zealand, and was without and internet connection for a while. In this time, the additional chapter for the Battle of Evernight was posted and taken down from this site. As I understand, it was a pay-per-view privilage, and I most certainly would have coughed up to read!

If you were able to send me a copy, I would be more than willing to donate to a charity of your choice (I personally like Steve's Wildlife Warriors, being an Australian and feeling the loss of Steve more personally than some of the Kiwi's around me) but if you have a preferance, just tell me!

I've just perchased WeatherWitch from my local bookstore, and enjoyed it so very, very much. My close friend when I was at school in Australia introduced me to your work and we used to spend our weekends in our rooms, or in a treehouse somewhere, drawing fanart and writing fanfiction (both of which are now too ghastly to comprehend posting anywhere on the internet!). After reading Tolkien, Lewis and watching movies such as Labyrinth, your tales with unseelies and the Faeran were so different to any other fantasy book I've ever read, and I'd like to thank you for giving the genre such a breath of fresh air! You've inspired me to write again, and thank you for all your help with your FAQ's on how to get published!

Anyway, I'll stop gushing XD Thanks for your time and consideration, and I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours,
Evelyn
