On the back page of "The Battle of Evernight' there is a statement that another chapter maybe found on this website. I have not been able to locate it and would like to read it very much. If it is no longer on this website could you please point me in the direction of where to find it, if it is indeed still here I apologise and ask that I still be given directions to its location. Thank-you for the time taken to read this e-mail.

> My name Angela Dalton...And I have to admit, that your series blew me away. It was fantastic. The background work you must have done is astounding. I can truely say that you floored me with your work.
> However, I was brought to a painful return to reality by the epilogue of your last book. I don't want to belittle the work you did in this trilogy, but I wondered about the short ending. The rest of the series was so epic that the epilogue seemed incomplete and possibly over looked. I am just wondering if that was intentional or if you felt that the series simply needed an ending.
> I do love the series, but this has had me confused for a very long time.
> Congratulations on writing truly insipiring tales.

> I usually don't read fantasy, but you have made me love it! For that I thank you.
> I have an extremely bright 10yr old son who is fascinated by creatures, real or mythical, doesn't matter. He loves to read about them, their habits etc.
> I was wondering if you would be kind enough to suggest a book on the creatures you mention in you writings, in which we could read about these creatures together?
> If not, I understand, but I thank you for creating a world in which I can escapre to from time to time.

> My dear Cecilia Dart-Thornton,

> I have just finished reading Fallowblade and am quite upset that I now have to return to the real world. You must know that I have never been moved enough to write a letter to an author, or any other human being for that matter. In fact, before The Crowthistle books were released I had stopped reading for about a year as your previous series, The Bitterbynde, rendered every subsequent book as thin and unsatisfying to me. I was so mad at the lack of reading material I had!
> After putting Fallowblade down tonight, I found myself in a panic that it had ended, misty-eyed at the beauty and depth of the story, and amazed at the things that popped out to me. Curious? Here goes!

> I recognized immediately that you used Persian derived names for the characters from Ashqaleth. Upon reading the name Chohrab, I audibly cried out because here was the last place on earth I’d ever expected to see a Persian-ish name. My father is Persian.

> Asrathiel’s beliefs in abstaining from eating flesh and the rights of non-humans are beliefs so close to my own heart. My father, mother and I have been dedicated lacto-vegans for 12 years. The reasons are so deeply spiritual that I haven’t been bothered to explain it to any of my friends. They just wouldn’t understand. So I remain the friend who just doesn’t want to eat furry little animals. Anyway, I wasn’t expecting vegan talk in the book!

> When geology, mineralogy, and gemstones were described in Fallowblade, I actually understood! I studied Gemmology (and as a result, chemistry, geology, light, and other such subjects) for six month this year in an attempt to become a gem valuer. Again, the last place I thought I’d ever come across gemmology facts.

> You mentioned Nothing Else Matters in the Afterword of Fallowblade. I’ve been trying to teach myself how to play that song on my guitar for years! I manage to get up to the part before the singing, but I always quit because my hands are too small to make the chords :)

> You also mention in the Afterword that folklore in the Philippines tells of gold warding off evil. I didn’t even know that and my mother is Filipino!

> And The Labyrinth with Jarreth? The many times I’ve sung “how you turn my world you precious thing” in my head, I’ve sung it with the same longing for that one partner.

> So anyway Ms DT, let me do the fan thing now. Your writing makes me excited about reading all over again and fires my heart like you have no idea. Your plots are so deeply satisfying that I am actually removed from the everyday world and always daydreaming of what I’ve just read. I cannot wait for what you may write next. I am so peeved that once again I won’t be as satisfied with anything else I pick up next. But, I will take your advice and read the Tanith Lee books recommended.

> Yours most faithfully,
> Zara

comments = Hi!

I've just finished reading your absolutely amazing Bitterbynde trilogy and the ending left me in agony!  I've read the introduction to the Wedding chapter and noticed a mention of the "original".  I've searched and searched and can't find it anywhere.  I would absolutely love it if I could read it!  I'm such a huge fan of Ashalind and Angavar and nothing can compare to your descriptive powers!  If you still have a copy and if it's not too much trouble, would I please be able to read it?  I'll understand if it's not doable.
In tears, but i'll understand!

Your fan,

Shireen

Hello Shireen,

Thank you for your lovely letter. I am pleased you've discovered the clarification of the ending on my website! It's quite hard to find, I know, and only the truly dedicated can locate it!

Yes there was an expanded version of that intro, which ended up as a kind of 'bonus chapter'. I originally wrote it in response to distraught readers who begged for clarification of the ending of THE BATTLE OF EVERNIGHT. I certainly had not intended to upset readers with the ending, and I wanted to console them! My publishers pointed out that there was no obligation on my part to do so, but I my heart was bleeding as a result of the anguished letters I had received.

It took several weeks of hard work to write that chapter - it was not an easy one, as I had been a long time away from the tale and had to find my way back into it, and also it was such an *important* one to get right!  The chapter was on the Internet for a while, for people to download in exchange for a small fee. Because writing is my livelihood I charged the fee to help cover the costs of abandoning my other writing projects during that period.

All went well until someone (leaving no return email address) wrote to me complaining about the fee. All I had done was offer my words for sale, as all authors must do when writing is the way they earn their living!

The complaint upset me. After all, no one was being forced to download the chapter, and it only cost as much as a cup of coffee. (I can't quite remember how much we charged - I *think* it was around $3.00.)

Anyway, to forestall any more complaints we pulled the chapter off the Internet and it's never been back. However I will look for it in my files.

Sain thee!
Cecilia
PS What a beautiful name you have!

comments = I have been up all night, enchanted and unable to put Fallowblade down. In fact I have developed a muscle spasm in my neck from my inability to stop reading its addictive, spellbinding text. I have tears in my eyes as I write to you now. Your story has moved me so, and taken me to a Wondrous state. I feel blissful. Your characters live inside of me.
I really enjoyed the strong messages you convey though the characters regarding animal rights. I am a lover and protector of animals, sometimes people think that I am crazy because I voice and defend my opinions on the protection of animals. It is easy for some to be ignorant. It pains me deeply that people lack compassion. The idea that out there now thousands of animals are being mistreated and abused plagues me with nightmares. I remember Asrathiels character having to put the thought of cruelty into the corners of her mind, and I am reminded of how I do this myself. Anyway I am happy to know that you convey your beliefs on the treatment of animals through your writing, hopefully it will provoke others to think about these issues more deeply.
Your wordsmithing is truly amazing, you create such art with the words you weld. Your words guide me to such breathtaking places and your characters insight me to think, love, laugh and cry.
I must tell you that I was once never a reader of fiction; I thought it was a waste of time and not real. However one day I was at a library and I saw the "Ill made mute", something compelled me to loan your book and read it. Maybe I "judged a book by its cover" but ever since then I have enjoyed the world of fiction and NEVER found it a waste of time. Now I wait eagerly for the next book you write.
I admire a mind such as yours, I admire how you can move such a person through story telling. I have also enjoyed your references to Australian animals and plants.
I am on such a natural high that I know that I will not get any sleep tonight! You inspire me so, I am a visual artist who has been lost and scared for a long time now, and your art has effected me so that I might go and create.
You truly are a clever woman with a beautiful heart and a contagious spirit Gramercie

I have greatly enjoyed the other books in the Crowthistle Chronicles, and I am most anxious to read the final book.
Thank you.

Dear Marlene,

Thank you for your nice email. I have contacted my editor at Tor books in New York, and she says they don't know when they would be publishing FALLOWBLADE, so I suggest either buying the book from Amazon Canada or organising a group of other US readers, dressing in medieval clothes and demonstrating with placards outside the Tor offices in the Flatiron Building in New York City!

Hi Cecilia

I have recently read your 'The Bitterbynde Trilogy' and I loved it. But I would ask you to please don't leave the ending as it is, did Angavar really take Ashalind back or was a little story made up at court? Then what happened to Ashalind in Faeran if he did? AND IF YOU CAN PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE THIS INTO A MOVIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Wendy,

I am delighted the Crowthistle series has pleased you!
While i was writing FALLOWBLADE a couple of ideas for a fifth book did occur to me and I do enjoy the company of the goblin knights, so while I have no immediate plans for a sequel it's not impossible.
Thank you for your encouragement!

Kind regards,
Cecilia

Fantastic if not a little surprising to see a Shetland tune in a book written by someone living in Australia.  Just curious about that and the trowie stories which bear a strong resemblance to Shetland stories!

I was wondering if theres any chance of future books set in the land of Erith?

And I just want to say that it's great to see an author promote the rights of animals to live in a cruelty free world.

Thankyou

comments = I am blown away that an unusual site can have material on long neck tortoises.  I searched on long necks - have 6 in my back yard - and they are coming out of hibernation. I want to be able to prepare food for them this year rather than buying in from pet stores.  You have given me some ideas on how to mix up a yummy blend of 'stuff'. Last year I was blown away when I found little ones ... gave away 4; two went into hibernation ... I am looking forward to warmer weather to find out if I have more. Thanks. ... my motto is "you don't go forward unless you stick your neck out" .. and I have been owning them for 15 years. kind regards, Pam
