Subject: the bitterbynde trilogy - my thoughts
Date: Thu, 11 Mar 2004 23:30:51 -0000
Hi,
I'm fourteen years old, i live in England and I'd just like to say that, after completing the bitterbynde trilogy but minutes ago, i am thoroughly amazed at how brilliant it was.
And there I was thinking that Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were the best books ever written when i happened to spy the first book in the Bitterbynde trilogy.
I hung on every word of each of the books and could scarcely put it down.
When the Crowthistle chronicles are released i intend to get hold of a copy a.s.a.p.
And all i can say to those who have not read any of your work is, that they are missing out on the read of their life time.
Desperately awaiting the release of the next books,
Nichola

I would just like to say congratulations on writing such an awesome book. I am now 14 but I first read your book when I was 12 and in Year 7. Ever since then I have been completely in LOVE with your trilogy. I recommended them to all my friends and not surprisingly in LOVE with it too.
You have inspired me to become an author and that is the greatest gift that you can give.
I BEG you to PLEASE keep writing or I think that what little sanity I have left is tested.
Caroline,
P.S I think that you rock for using Celtic legends, I was completely into mythology when I was in Year 5 so when I recognised some of the legends i had spasms of delight!!

comments = I instantly fell in love with the Bitterbynde Trilogy and thought it is genuinely the most beautiful and gripping story I have ever read(even compared to the Lord of The Rings). Therefore I was wondering when the Crow Thistle Trilogy will be coming out? I did ask in our local Ottakers book shop but they didn,t have a date or even that there was/going to be the Trilogy!! I'd very much appreciate it if you could let me know! Thanks!! Louise Bush.

I am about to finish the bitterbynde trilogy and I am truly pleased to see that someone who can spin a yarn as well as you do, can intersperse a mixture of created words and language with great skill. I will be reading more of your work, most certainly.
Please keep up the good work, and may God bless you.

I have to agree with other fans that a movie has to be made. Thank you so much for a good read though, and I'm looking foward to reading more books written by you - you are so creative!

comments = Dear Cecilia,
Today I have just finished 'The Battle of Evernight' and I am writing to you to tell you that I think you've done a fantastic job and that you are an extremely educated historian, at first I was sceptical at what this trilogy may bring, seeing how I had just finished reading to Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. I wish to tell you that they were a joy to read and I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns that Imhrien, Rohain and Taquil-Ashalind found herselk in.
However, I thought the ending of the trilogy was not as strong as someother tales I have read, and I, as the reader, was felt with a question mark over my head at what really happened. I can appreciate that the ending is not in the typical style of what a fantasy novel, where good always beats evil, and the woman, in this case, gets her man, but to leave a question mark over the readers head, well, it just doesn't fit in well, in my opinion anyway, but I am a traditionalist, so I suppose my opinion is suited to a different era.
Anyway, thank you for letting me get that off my chest, and I am waiting in anticipation for to your next series, I hope that it is just, if not more, satisfying than this one.

comments = I have just found you and finished the lady of the sorrows. Now i am champing at the bit to read the final book of the trilogy.
Having read the genre for many moons and loving all things fairie, i found the first book absolutly engrossing. Sans washing up done till it was done, and the same with book 2. I should like to thank you for your writing and keeping me in books through the long cold dark winter nights.

comments = A week it took me to read your Bitterbynde trilogy. And for the entirety of those seven days i found myself entirely spellbound and incapable to put the books aside. The characters were unquestionably richly created, and thus i found a bond with them. it was as though i were a part of the tale. i felt the characters pain, despair, weakness, love and to an extent the force of the Langothe.
In conclusion it was enchanting beyond description.
Thankyou for your time, and for broadening my imagination, equally if not more than Tolkien, and Rowling.
Erin

I am eagerly awaiting the publication of your next book/s. I first read the Bitterbynde Trilogy at my Public Library but I was so impressed with the way you had written that I promptly went out and bought a copy of the trilogy for my own book shelf. I will be reading them more than the once I can assure you. I was immediately drawn to the many adjectives that you used in nearly all of the sentances - particularly those describing the countryside, the sky and the sea. Such as 'the gorgeous hues of the Forest of Tiriendor hung festooned on all sides like jewelled curtains or a sable sky jeweled with stars'. I was so engrossed in your descriptions of everything, that at first I was distracted from the story itself. However I soon overcame that and read the completed trilogy. I have read Robert Jordans Wheel of Time about 6 times so far and I am sure I will be reading your books just as often.
Good luck with your next publications.
Regards
Rosemary

Hi Cecilia,
Loved the 'Bitterbynde' series and cant wait for the new book seeing that my wife is half Irish and we have strong connections with the Emerald Isle.
Any chance of a signed copy ? I know your signings are very few and far between over here in the UK and it would be a welcome addition to my already cherished collection.
Good luck with the new book and I wish you every success in the future (I'm not a serious reader but theyve certainly captured my imagination)
Best Regards
Bill

Loved the books, the ending, and everything else. I saw you had a poll and wonderd where it was, but I think Keira Knightley would make a good Imrien. But that is just my personal opinion. any way Thanks!

Kathi sent me your book, The Ill-made Mute, and I absolutely adored it. I believe it is the most original work of the genre since Tolkien crafted the Elf-Dwarf-Goblin pattern of most modern fantasy novels. Your book is spell-binding, fantastic. It makes the reader forget Erith is mere fiction. I must read the last two books of the trilogy.
Thank you for writing something with such inspiring originality and bold, raw talent. At any rate, thanks for the new inspiration. I believe that many will undoubtedly agree that you may have just begun an incredible new trend that I'm sure will one day alter Fantasy literature.
p.s. Where can I get ahold of all those ancient fairy tales you dug up to put into your book?!

Dear Celilia Dart-Thorton,
I felt that I had to tell you how much your books have inspired me. You are my favorite author along with Tolkien. I love your style. Most authors who use a lot of details, their books drown in it, but yours are truly amazing! Your style is so poetic and pretty. I was so sad when I finished The Battle of Evernight, and I wished it would go on and on. I look forward for your future book. I ache for them!
I have always wanted to be a writer. I believe I could. But I can never grasp an idea. And now that I have read you books I have a goal to try and finish a book of my own. Thank you so much for providing these beautiful works of litature!
Megan est of luck with your future projects.

Ariane Appavoo
Thank you for a magical escape.
